The programme \'La Guitarre Royalle\' brings together music from the entire production of Francesco Corbetta (Pavia 1615 - Paris 1681). Starting with his first Bolognese print of 1639 up to the second Parisian edition of the Guitarre Rqyalle of 1674, the apex of his production, which combines in a refined manner the Italian style with its Spanish influences, with the French style, well assimilated by the Pavia composer during his stay in Versailles in the Lullian period.

A witness, with his printed collections, to the compositional evolution of guitar music from a simple chordal accompaniment to music as elaborate and complex as any other instrument, Corbetta reaches the apex of this instrumental wisdom with the pieces for two guitars. It is not a question of a solo guitar accompanied by the second, but rather of two guitars in dialogue, whose summed chords create real \'harmonic clusters\' rich in overtones, and whose melodic lines s1 move m1 counterpoint. <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

On Thursday 21 March, the Rossini Conservatoire celebrates the European Day of Early Music 2024 at the Rossini National Museum. Instituted by the European Community on the day of J. S. Bach\'s birth (1685) and the spring equinox, the celebration aims to ideally unite Europe in the sign of its millenary musical tradition (from the Middle Ages to the end of the 18th century), symbolised by the great Leipzig, and at a moment of rebirth to life marked by the shift of the Sun\'s hemisphere.

For the occasion, students and teachers of the CRoMA (Conservatorio Rossini Musica Antica) ensemble are proposing a concert entitled Ariose vaghezze e Sacre modulazioni, ovvero la monodia accompagnata del Seicento italiano per arciliuto e voci.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

Among the musicians who were active in the first half of the seventeenth century, Girolamo Frescobaldi (Ferrara, 1583 - Rome, 1643)stands out not only as an organist whose virtuosity and technical skill were superlative and incomparable, but also as a formidable musician who was able to interpret the artistic stirrings in the musical language of his time and to incorporate them, in an effective and significant way, into his vast production for keyboard instruments. <\/div>
Frescobaldi not only inaugurates a new manner of playing but also illustrates a new refined “modus componendi” through a language of astonishing modernity. <\/div>
The concert offers pages taken from his printed (Libro I Toccatas, Libro II Toccatas) and unpublished (Chigi Codex ) music collections.<\/div>
It is music that seduce by its spontaneity, by its freshness, by the naturalness of the lyric melodic gesture. <\/div>
In fact, the pages of the illustrious organist enjoy the luminous and fascinating sonorities of a magnificent example of Italian organ building art, belonging to one of the most famous dynasties of Brescian builders, active in the years between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries: the Antegnati. In particular, it is an ancient organ built by Gian Giacomo Antegnati in 1554, located, in the mirifica Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore in Milan.<\/div>
These pages are so imbued with a great expressive intensity and a poignant grace that, even today, they amaze us with their relevance. They are compositions permeated by a magic of sounds and an emotional tension that seems to never end.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

A tribute concert to Early Music in Vigevano, a beautiful town close to Milan both geographically and historically. Here, during the Renaissance, the Sforza Court moved from Milan; moreover, important figures such as Ludovico il Moro, Leonardo da Vinci and Donato Bramante lived here. 2024 marks the 550th anniversary of Guillaume Du Fay\'s death, and Early Music Day is the perfect occasion to remember his long and important compositional career. \'Luna totius musicae\': this is how he is mentioned by Compère in the motet Omnium bonorum plena. And indeed, Du Fay was an important reference point for his own and subsequent generations of composers. Always open to all musical novelties, he was able to constantly update his own compositional paradigm. At the same time, however, he was able to combine this continuous drive towards the future with the preservation of that late-medieval symbolic conception that characterised the works of the masters who had preceded him. All this gave rise to an interesting mix of the ancient and the modern, which certainly, together with other elements, constitutes one of the ingredients of Du Fay\'s greatness.<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

The Salmi a cinque, tre voci e due violini, fifth work, by Giovanni Legrenzi, are a collection of thirteen pieces: twelve psalms and the Magnificat, published in Venice in 1657. These psalms follow the model of the church cantata, with multiple sections, consisting of the succession of individual parts, contrasting with each other in style, metric signature and agogic prescription; each combined with a verse of the psalm following changing formal patterns.

The period instruments orchestra "Accademia del Ricercare", lead by Luigi Pagliarini, will perform Antonio Caldara's Oratorio "La Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo" in the splendid setting of the church of Sant'Agnese in Vercelli. "Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo" was written in Venice probably between 1697 and 1698. Lodovici Forni's tight, cohesive libretto (also used by Bononcini in 1690) is based on Luke 7:36-50, with the addition of Martha from John 11:1-2 and 12:1-4.

2024 marks the 550th anniversary of Guillaume Du Fay's death, and Early Music Day is the perfect occasion to remember his long and important compositional career. 'Luna totius musicae': this is how he is mentioned by Compère in the motet Omnium bonorum plena. And indeed, Du Fay was an important reference point for his own and subsequent generations of composers. Always open to all musical novelties, he was able to constantly update his own compositional paradigm. At the same time, however, he was able to combine this continuous drive towards the future with the preservation of that late-medieval symbolic conception that characterised the works of the masters who had preceded him. All this gave rise to an interesting mix of the ancient and the modern, which certainly, together with other elements, constitutes one of the ingredients of Du Fay's greatness.
